An artist for over 30 years, Sandy Sanjurjo creates pieces that are lucid, fun and showcase her obsession with color gradient, contrasting silhouettes and flow. She often draws inspiration from nature; the bold colors, dynamism and tranquility. She experiments regularly with different media, such as acrylics, alcohol inks, oil pastels, spray paint, epoxy resin and liquid gold leaf as well as dabbling in digital media and photography. Sanjurjo says, “I create to bring calm to my restless mind. To me, blending color is like listening to great music; it sets the soul at ease.”
Born and raised in San Jose, California, Sanjurjo has had numerous art shows throughout the greater Bay Area and has contributed works to the Michael J. Fox foundation, Soles for Souls and the Imadonnari Street painting festival in San Luis Obispo, among a few. She donates her work yearly to be auctioned at The Great Taste of PG, the signature fundraising event for the Pacific Grove school district, as well as other districts throughout the Bay Area. Her most recent exhibit, Fluid Dynamics, was featured at the Pacific Grove Art Center. Her brightly colored murals are enjoyed daily by the public at Forest Grove Elementary school.
